Delete your Kinly account & data
This page explains how to delete your Kinly account
and the data associated with it, what is removed, and what is kept.
Developer: Kinly
Delete your account (and all your data)
In the app:
- Open Kinly and go to the Profile tab.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap "Delete my account."
- Confirm. (If you're a child under 13, a parent/guardian is asked to
approve the deletion.)
Or by email: write to
privacy@gokinly.com from the email
address on your account with the subject "Delete my account," and we'll
process it for you.
Delete specific data without deleting your account
- Remove a family member or child: a guardian opens that
member and taps "Remove from family," which deletes that
member's data (including a child's location history).
- Stop location collection: turn off location sharing in
your Profile at any time.
- Export a child's data first: a parent can request a copy
of their child's data from the child's management screen before deleting.
- Or email privacy@gokinly.com to
request deletion of specific data.
What is deleted, and what is kept
Deleted when you delete your account or a member:
- The member record — name, profile photo, and battery readings
- All location and activity-segment history (the map trail/timeline)
- Push-notification tokens and any transient "on my way" pickup snapshots
- For a child: the full profile and activity history we hold on them
Kept only as required:
- The verifiable parental-consent record for a child, which COPPA requires
us to retain — it is not used for any other purpose.
- Ride and SOS records may remain in other family members' own
history; carpool participation history is scrubbed of the child's name and
pickup point.
Timing: deletions are processed promptly (typically
immediately in-app, or within a few days for an emailed request). We retain
data only where the law requires it.
